Phasing

I am working on a project that is going out in phases. I have been trying to put each element on their correct phase so that it'll be easier for the contractor to separate when a certain element is being constructed. However when I do this, for example on walls that are in different phases, we lose the connection that the walls used to hold. Does anyone know why the walls are doing this and/or if there is a way to fix them so that while they are on different phases they can still join?

The phasing tool within Revit is not for dealing with the different tasks during construction, but merely for "existing" and "new"
OK, "New" CAN (SHOULD in some cases) be split into ohers like "Phase 1", "Phase 2" etc.

For what you´re describing, I´d suggest looking into Autodesk Navisworks Simulate, which is designed to break the building procces up, as it´s gonna be build.
