I have a number of students who loaded the Metric version of Revit instead of the Imperial. Are these really two different products? or can I flip a switch and make everything correct? I know that the libraries are different in the two different products, Can I load both at the same time?

Thanks for the help.

I have both libraries available - generally there is more content in the Metric library.

I load imperial families and change the units to metric, but it isn't essential.

I seem to remember reading here in the past that there are some issues in switching between Metric and Imperial projects - possibly rounding errors? - but I can't recall exactly what.

Certainly I don't have any problem incorporating Imperial content in Metric projects (in fact I download, French, Italian ,German etc content as well - there is often the odd window or door unique to that content)

What if you use imperial and wish to start a project in metric? Is it just a matter of changing your units beforehand? Also how do you go about loading the metric library after the fact?

Yep, change your units, and download content in both imperial and metric including templates from:

Here is the thread I was thinking of:

I tend to load Imperial content into a Metric Project, edit the Imperial family, change it's units to Metric, then save as.

I guess what you need are two optional templates to start the project.

There are some available from the Revit content site

NAImperialTempl.cab for Imperial templates and say

IntMetTempl.cab for international metric templates
