See attached JPG.

"Encountered an improper argument."

I had just hit save, I wasn't debating free will vs. determinism!

Seriously though, I had just clicked the "Save As..-> Family" function on the File menu.

I am getting this error on a random basis, but seems about 50% of families being created get it. I've mainly been making doors and windows lately, but also a few generic families. All from supplied 2010 metric templates.

The hairs on my neck start to rise when Revit starts throwing random errors around, and I start saving much more frequently (cue music from 'Jaws')

I think something nasty is lurking, and it's getting closer!

One of the issues may be the assembly code. Try clearting it if there is one. If someone assigns an assembly code from a Uniformat.txt file contining entries yours does not have, then I have seen this error.

I have seen this error, also, but only when exporting sheets or views in a project to DWG. Usually the export dialog box will come up, I click Export, and then I see that error. When I hit okay, a file save dialog box similar to the pre-2010 Export dialog box will come up, with the file name and export format fields in addition to the view range pulldown.

Weird.

This is happening to me too. When I try to export my roof plan, I get the "ecountered an improper argument". It is preventing me from exporting! My roof is full of extrusions, and I am trying to export it to a DWG file. Maybe Revit is having a hard time converting roof extrusions to flat lines?... I don't kow.

I've had the same thing happen when trying to export in Revit 2010. I find that it happens when Shading with Edges is the model graphics style. If I turn it to hidden line, the warning goes away. Worth a shot!
