Changing a Handrail

Hi,

i have designed a handrail on a ground floor plan for a staircase but i need it to be on the first floor and i have tried attaching to the stairs but it just wont work, can anyone help me to resolve this problem

Check to see if the sketch line for the railing is over the boundary of the stairs....it doesn't work if the railing is just over the stringers.
