Editing cross-sections

Is there any settings you can change on Revit that make section junctions (e.g. wall to floor) appear as they would in real life??

Yes. When you go to the floor or wall properties and edit its assembly, you'll notice that their layers have a function number and name as well as the core layer. There's a lot of information out there on about how layer function works but basically layers with the same function will meet and clean each other when the two elements join. The core layer has a higher priority on that.
