Okay, I got another one.

I know the procedure for text styles and sizes of fonts, etc, but every time I enter MTEXT, i have to select the font size (1/4"), the color (white), the alignment (center), the underscore (_), etc.

Could someone help. I'm sure I am again missing something here.

Not sure I understand the question or problem.....
The way we use mtext is to let the global properties rule if you can.
In other words, we don't assign a color or a height to the text within the mtext editor.
We use a defined layer like G-ANNO-TEXT with a desired color, and use a defined text style with a height. If you need to change the justification or add an underline you can do that within the editor or through properties dialog.

Thats the way we do it anyway....

Tip: Just for a simple, quick way of creating mtext to a specific scale (other than 1:1 in paperspace) I usually just get on the proper dimstyle and use the QLEADER command, create a leader and mtext and delete the leader.

When you 1st issue the MText command, you'll note (just after picking the 1st point) there's some options to change the style, height, justification, etc. on the command line. These become defaults thereafter.

For you own sake do as tedg's suggested: Don't modify anything within the MText (if you can help it). Rather do the setting as above, or use the propertes palette to change after the fact. If you edit the text inside the MText you can't change a group of MTexts after the fact - you'll have to do them one at a time.
