Void won't cut out watertable

I have always had the biggest problem with this:

I want the water table to stop at the door trim, but I can never seem to get the void to cut out the water table. The water table is a sweep in the wall type...I have resorted in the past to using a different wall type without the sweep and then applying the sweep and adjusting the grips...but that's way more work.

OK..I figured it out. If "cuttable" is selected for the sweep in the wall type, the blue grips for the sweep don't appear. If "cuttable" is not selected, then the grips appear and the sweep can be adjusted. I don't understand the logic, but at least I can get what I want.
