I don't if this will appeal to all, but I like to have all text objects colour as black and all tags colour as blue.
As everyone knows, you can select an object and while holding CTRL, drag that object to create a copy. Well, I do this a lot with text, and by differentiating between text and tags with colours, I now don't try and create copies of tags when I want text.
