Sending rvt files to consultants

We are new to Revit and need to know what the best way to send a Revit file to our consultants is. The consultant has Revit MEP 2010 and we are using Revit Architecture 2010.

You need to upload the file to an FTP site.

Try this. This is the way I do it!
Create Copy:
1. Have team "Synchronize" with Central File.
2. Make copy of Central File to "LOCAL" Drive.

Cleaning:
1. Open copied Central file in Revit checking "Audit" & "Detach From Central".
2. Purge unused objects.
3. Remove unused linked files.

Saving:
1. Save As. Under Options make sure "Make This A Central File" & "Compact File" are checked.
2. Save the file with the same filename and answer yes to replacing existing copy.
3. Close Revit & delete Back-Up folder.

It really doesn't matter how (but FTP is the common approach), just as long as you have some standards set between you and your consultants. You need to establish rules on who will own what and how you will manage the copy/monitor process. You should open a disconnected file and do a save as to a new location for the transfer.
