View Full Version : nested structural beams go back to default lenght...

I made a canopy as a generic family, with loaded structural beams and "Ts".
Once loaded into the project, the canopy looks fine.

Because I want to be able to tag them in the main project, I tried to "share" the structural beams and Ts of the canopy family.

Once I reloaded the canopy into the project, all its structural members went back to the 4 feet default length, with no regards for the actual lenghts they have when you open the canopy family.

Now I can annotate (or schedule the beams) but Revit makes them 4 feet long.
I tried to make the canopy a structural framing family, but it does the same.

How do you create families with nested, shared structural members which STAY EXACTLY as when you build them?
Any idea on how to prevent the beams from changing length?

Thank you

Did you tie the Length parameter of the beam to a length parameter of the canopy family?
