We are about to start the process of producing standard details for housing. I am going to do these all in Autocad so Autocad users can access them as well as Revit users. Are there any tips you can offer me before I get into this? I have listed a couple things I think will come up - are there any more?

Have realised straight off that basically I forget about using paperspace. All text etc is to be in modelspace - and the scale must be decided on for text and linetype scaling (how does LTscale behave in Revit??)

All details are to be separate files.

All colours and linetypes must be bylayer also. (so they can be edited in revit)

No xrefs.

Martin,
I'm in a similar process but I choose to make the details in Revit and export them to Acad
We have fewer and fewer projects in Acad and the updated group function in Rel 7.0 gives us a reliable option to save/ load the groups out/in for new projects.
What made you decide to do them in acad?

The process I'm following now is:
open a project that has a condition to use as a underlay for my new detail
use filled regions to replace the model information
finish the detail
copy - paste the detail to a drafting view
group
export view to acad
save out to a file

Mostly to make them manageable for both systems. I have also had problems with some Revit exports becoming very slow and large as Autocad files (I still dont know why?) though I assume somewhere I have millions of lines....

Also I am happy to work in either system, and as it will be used by both I may as well do it with Autocad.

Does your use of NEW in your title mean you've seen THIS THREAD (http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?t=4786)and are wondering if there are newer tips? Or just referring to making new details as opposed to dealing with existing ones?
