I can't open my Cad 2005 in SDI mode in order to be able to use publishing commends on large sets of dwgs (50Sheets) Is there anyone out there who had the same problem and found a resolution. Please let me know

Hi
Does setting system variable SDI = 1 not work?
Have a good one, Mike

Are these 'pure' AutoCAD drawings or are there
any Land Desktop objects in them?
You may need to go into Options
and disable Object Detect, command invoke
so that IF there are proxy objects from other
applications setting your SDI mode to 3.
Otherwise every time you open those drawings
with those elements in them you will lose your
ability to open multiple drawings in that session.

The problem here is simple; that Land Enabled MAP icon is
really Land DIS-abled, in that if one uses, or loads a Land Desktop
command or menu while in MAP it becomes Land Desktop (SDI mode =3)
You must Unload all Land Desktop menus while in MAP.
You must disbale Object detect and command invoke in your
Options, then close MAP and re-open it you should now be able to
SDI as required to open multiple documents as required by
the Publish command.

I just tried the steps you recommended but, Initially when I click on Land enabled Map Icon it loads Land Desktop which is SDI varible set to 3. I also tried to change the variable to 0 but it won't let me do it. As result i still can't get it to use Multiple Document Interface. Would you have more steps posibbly help to resolve this . Thank you

Your symptoms are the problem and you must follow these steps
1 Start MAP (whatever your Icon is)
It is CORRUPTED by the presence of Land Desktop menus
or Land ARX objects in the file you are opening with MAP.
Thusly it proclaims itself to be LAND DESKTOP!!!
2 Issue the MENULOAD command and unload any of the
following menus Land Desktop, Civil Design, Survey.
3 Open Options
on the Open and Save tab left side about 2'3rds down
Turn OFF the proxy object setting of Object Detect command invoke.
This will keep MAP from 'seeing' the LAN objects and loading the Land Menus
yet again and setting SDI mode to 3 again.
4 Exit MAP
5 Re-enter MAP and NOW you will be able to set or already find
that SDI mode is properly set already.
6 Have a Nice Day

Thank you very much. It worked finally
The trick was using the "menuload" in the command line. Previously when I tried unloading menus from projects flyout it didn't really unload them.
Well It's all good to go thanks again
