Hi, can you help please? Is it possible to close a cavity internally on a wall comprising 102 Brick, 100 Cavity with Insulation, 100 Block, 25 Stud & 12.5 Plasterboard. I have created the wall and can close the cavity internally with a block but when I add the Stud & Plasterboard I can only have the Plasterboard wrapping. Please see a jpg with what I am trying to achieve and a .rvt file with the wall I created so far. Do I need to create the wrapping in a Door or Window Family? I appreciate any help. Thanks Peter

Think I discovered it.

I have developed this some more but my plasterboard is wrapping to far. I tried creating to Void Extrusions but it didn't work. Can I wrap the plasterboard seperately from the Block? I have a Wall Closure created in the Door Family which controls both the Block & the Plasterboard. Any input is much appreciated. Peter

Have you used a wall closure reference plane?
If not, that might be the solution to your problem.

If you add a reference plane in the opening family (i.e. door, window etc) with the option 'Wall Closure' checked you can control the inner and outer returns - it sounds as though you may be already doing this.

However, as far as I know, this will set the same return position for all wrapped layers.

On some of my own projects I leave the reveals without returns or with simple returns of the internal finish layer and then do the detail of the returns in plan view only with the Cut Profile tool.
Sometimes where the returns are very complex that is the only way to do it - as in the attached example.

Thanks for the advice, I have a Wall Closure in the Component Family which determines the depth of the wrapping but it controls all components globally including the block, stud & Plasterboard. This seems to be the only option. Ideally I could control the wrapping of components individually so the Stud & Plasterboard don't wrap as far as the Block. I am only wrapping from the inside. Perhaps I can use detailing to wrap the Stud & Plasterboard to meet a door or window. Lets see if 2011 has addressed this in April!

Thanks ws, the Cut Profile Tool worked fine. Would be tedious to do every door and window though but at least it's a solution.
