I've been trying to find the best way to make Revit Help and our company BIM Standards easy to access. The best idea I have come up with is to create a .chm from out of our BIM Standards website and then add it as and additional search location for the search in Revit. That way our standards, Revit help, and Autodesk Online get searched all at the same time. This will also encourage people to use the help file more instead of asking me simple questions.

Has anyone tried this or have a better solution?

Our company has created a Wordpress blog only about Revit. Other companies I've worked for have created an intranet and uploaded individual pdf's for each topic which was very nice because you could print the pdf's out if it's something you wanted to study.

With Revit web based help:

http://docs.autodesk.com/REVIT/2010/ENU/Revit%20Architecture%202010%20Users%20Guide/RAC/index.html

You may be able to use Google SiteSearch

http://www.google.com/sitesearch/

To create a custom search that searches your intranet and the online Revit help. I am not sure if this is possible but it might be worth talking to Google about to see if it would work for you.

We do a wordpress site as well. It worked well because a lot of our standards were created in word docs originally so it is pretty fast to upload them in a blog like format using wordpress. We've also started copying pertinent items directly from the Revit help files onto this blog. It is only accessible internally so I don't think there are any copyright issues.

I've created a Revit Area on our Intranet site which holds Manuals, Guidance Notes, Tips and Tricks and a Newsletter gets published every 2-3 weeks with information about changes to the Template, New families, what projects the different offfices are working on, what problems the have found and how they were solved. We are also about to start luch time training sessions every 2 - 3 weeks watching videos from Autodesk University 2009

An example of a typical Guidance Note can be found at http://cadalot-revitlearningcurve.blogspot.com/2007/08/guidance-note-toposurfaces-introduction.html

Our Marketing guy has just added some of this information to our new web site at http://www.swh.co.uk/news_detail.php?news_id=19

We also use a company intranet for that sort of thing, Drupal-based. It's searchable, and very easy to add content to.
