Subregion Color Problem

What would cause changing the material color for a subregion to not show the color specified but to appear white/washed out in a site plan? It looks ok in a 3d view but not in plan. Also seems to only be with certain colors, ie: I can make it be a redicious purple and it shows up just fine...

There is by default a light source in Revit, which can produce the washed out affect.

The light can not be turned off.

Try adjusting the Sun/Shadow settings under Advanced Model Graphics, etc.
