View Full Version : 4x8 dashed fill pattern needed

I need a fill pattern that is 4x8 "running bond pattern" that is made of dashed lines.

I have 4"x8" tile that is to be removed, and I want to show it in elevation as dashed (either as a filled region or as a surface pattern). Does anyone have this?

I have created custom patterns in the past (distant past), and I am too time crunched to spend time banging my head against a wall figuring it out. I swear, I knew how to do this once, and now it is like chinese algebra to me.

Thanks in advance,
- Jon

Have you tried using a dashed linestyle for the hatch?

Not possible natively within Revit. He would need a model pattern with each individual line dash in the pattern defined (placement, angle, shift, space, etc).

Jon- What is the typical dash-space spacing that your office uses for demolition Lines?

1/16" dashes & spaces would work, but its not a huge problem if it's not exact.

For those of you following along on this post, get ready for the ultimate climax. I figured it out. Or rather, I used an old lsp routine that figured it out for me.

Attached is a .jpg of the pattern & two versions of the .pat file. they are almost the same, just different spacing on the dashed lines.

These patterns are a ideal for showing CMU, Brick, or Tile as "Demolished" in elevation.

Enjoy

Excellent work. You wouldn't by chance be able to post the old lisp routine?

Thanks!

I had to do an excel file to create tile & brick and we added that feature :-)
I'll check with him if i can post it
