Can't place legend component

Can't call the Revit support line (no one home, huh?) so here's to you guys:

Anyone know why we can't place a legend component into a legend view? Just on this one file - makes no sense. It is a workset-based project...

File was created with the first build of R7 and we're working with the current build.

I had similar problems but with the last build you had to run your mouse along the toolbar on the left then across to the lengend type selector. If you cross the screen the error sign appears and cancels everything. The new build however doesnt have the problem ( 20041113_2030)
