Recently Autodesk has opened up certification to 3ds Max users with the Associate and Professional certification levels in Autodesk 3ds Max Design 2010. To find out more about the exams and to download an Exam Guide, visit:

For those of you who are familiar with Autodesk product certification, it's a nice feather in your professional hat.
Without going into details, the test themselves not terrible. In my experience and from others I've talked to who have taken any Autodesk certification test, the Associate was the hardest. Mostly impart to being a test of your memory of Max. In the Professional you are actually in product, so everything is right in front of you so long as you know where to look.
The Exam Guide gives you rough areas to study. Apparently there is (or will be) a practice test that you can take online to give you a flavor of the type of questions on the exam.
