Has anyone been successful with the truss feature they added to Revit Architecture?

I have played around with it but its not intuitive at all, which for Revit is very strange. Its hard to place it the way I need, for example at the top of a wall while attached to a roof. I eliminated the structure layer of the roof because now the truss is the structure but the system seems difficult to make it look correct. Even simple things like making the top cord extend past the bottom cord is difficult. I tried creating trusses that overlap to see how it corrects itself but it failed. I figure it needs a lot of work and maybe if we decide to really want to model our trusses we'll just purchase Truss+, but if we can save money we would love to implement the truss feature already available.

However, if someone has been successful I'd love to hear tips or suggestions in implementing it correctly.
