I am a architecture student and this semester I will be modeling a two story commercial building in Revit. The professor requires all construction documentation to be created in the software as well with the exceptions of wall details. You will find attached to this email a graphic image of a brick wall assembly.
I was wondering what if any software would I use create a image like the one that is attached.

I´d use Revit :-)
Seperate family, or In-place family - It´s pretty easy to model with simple extrusions etc.

I did this in school ~2 years ago, we used 3d modeling in ACAD and rendered in Viz (3DS Max). It took no time at all. Unless you are creating a new revit project for each wall, its adding unnecessary objects and data to your model. Personally for me it is quicker to extrude in ACAD then import to MAX. (or build in MAX depending how good you are with their interface.)
