The Avatech Utilities for Revit now appear to be on a for sale basis.

Did I miss something between Revit versions? I could swear these use to be free? I remember being able to download these each on an individual basis.

If Avatech is now charging has anyone else created freeware extensions to do the same thing?

Thanks

It looks like they have a 'free' version which they call "Lite". In addition to that there's the 'for sale' version. I haven't used this ultility in the past, so I'm not 100% sure what's included in the previous version and how it stacks up to the the now 'free' and 'for sale' versions. I know you can go to their site - www.avatech.com/revitutilities (http://www.avatech.com/revitutilities) and take a look.

They're also having a minicast tomorrow at 10am EST and 2pm EST if you want to see what this is about. Just click HERE (https://www.avatech.com/mk/get/AVAT_UTILREVIT_IN) and see.

I recall a post or e-mail back in the Summer about getting their 2010 utils for free one last time before they started charging for them.

Because of that I went ahead and downloaded the ZIP file but not sure if it would be "legal" to post it here.

Yes, due to the effort involved in maintaining the utilities, we have begun charging for some of them.

If you visit our site:
http://www.avatech.com/solutions/building-design/product-details.aspx?product=44

You can download the free "LITE" version, containing Room Renumber, Change Case, Space Update and Grid Select.

We also sent out e-mails over the summer to the 5000 previous downloaders to offer them a free 5 seats (in recognition that we were changing the pricing).

Patrick - it's not (really) a problem to post the full version of utilities (they're available at: http://www.avatech.com/downloads/avatechUR/AvatechUtilities2010.zip) - in that they are protected by FLEXlm licensing (so it's not really giving anybody anything).
