anyone encountered the similar issue before?
for one project w/ levels of Basement / MainFloor / UpperFloor, if i underlay MainFloor in Basement plan view, instead of showing greyed MainFloor elements, it shows greyed UpperFloor elements.
something is definitely wrong in my model, any idea what causes it? or is there any setting to control the way it works?

Have you checked the View Range of your MainFloor level? Make sure that it is not looking at the Level Above or set so high that it's sees the level above. Also, make sure that your Underlay Orientation is set to Plan not RCP.

looks like twiceroadsfool(Aaron Maller) giving great answer at the following link:

i'm not a fan of using underlay, but only for temporarily reference.

turning off the floor in order to underlay level above seems the way out.

any better solution other than that?

if you would like to see the floor above you as an underlay, set the underlay to the floor you are on. sounds weird, but i think that would work

it doesn't work for my case except turning off current floor.

in fact, underlay IS weird!

when i create brand new project using Revit default template, underlay level above seems work just like underlay level below.

sorry, i agree it is weird and wish we had more control of where the cut plane was for the underlay. now that i think about it, when i used the underlay of the same floor it was for a structural plan showing the floor framing above.
