Inserting xrefs are appearing as shaded or as if I locked the layer. Is this a feature that can be toggled on or off? I don't mind it myself but others in my office are questioning it - the usual "I don't like it speeches".

I just found it. Under the INSERT tab of the ribbon is a pulldown menu for the "reference" panel. the command is xref fade. I thought that there was something simple. Thanks anyways.
Also, the system variable XFADECTL controls this.

That's correct, sorry bout that. The XFADECTL sysvar is the fading when you do a refedit. Thanks for the correction Richard.
