View Full Version : wrap around first tread on stairway
HELP!!!!:banghead:
has anyone tried to do a stairway with the first tread wrapping around the stringers as shown in the attached pdf?????
i am not having any trouble with the curved stairs but the first tread is killing me.

It's quite doable. Take the boundary lines to the location of the newel post and then draw a line offset from that say an eighth of an inch outside and use that to pick up the outside edge of the dais tread. That way your geometry follows the Revit rules and should look like what you are looking for.

I know this is a later response, but I have the same problem where I want to create a wrap-around first tread. I read you suggestion, but I can't get it to work. Could you send me an example or elaborate on what to do? Thanks.

This is one of mine. This has many wrap-araound steps, but you can do just the one if you want. Danger awaits those who try and do this with monolithic stairs!

Thanks. That makes it easier to visualize. I didn't know where to use riser lines or boundary lines. I'll give it a try.
As a work around, I used an in-place family and solid extrusions for the tread and riser.
