I'm writing this post in response to a section in the Help Menu on Masking Regions in Model Families. I can follow the steps easily but I can't wrap my head around what to do if any situation is unique. I've attached a pdf describing the technique. When I bring the countertop and the cabinet into a project it works great but if the cabinet height drops below the height of the countertop the dashed lines representing the cabinet below disappear. This happens occasionaly at our firm because we have a lot of moveable cabinets on glides that sit lower that the height of the counter. How do I draw my masking regions/symbolic lines so they show up if the cabinet is lower than the countertop?

Thanks!

Per your clipping from the help file, the work plane of the casework masking region and the counter masking region are the same.

But in your situation when your casework dips below the counter, the workplane is lower than the counter, thus Draw In Foreground does not have any effect. You can solve this by making a new workplane in the family that would be as high or higher than the counter. This new ref place would not be related to the height of the movable casework.

See attached family for a quick sample.
