View Full Version : How to Host Railing to Sloped In-Place Floor

Can anyone help me figure out what I am missing? I am trying to host a railing to an In-Place Floor that was created with a sweep. The floor is sloped in 2 directions.

When I try to host it, it will not recognize the face of the In-Place floor. I also tried to set a work plane along the slope and that did not work.

I'm sure there is something simple I am just forgetting.

Thanks

I've run across this same issue too and it would be nice, at the very least, to host the railing to a workplane. I''m interested to hear if anyone has come up with any solutions.

You can create a dummy object in a future phase, host the railing on it, then change the railing's phase to the correct phase. Of course, creating a dummy set of eg. stairs that follows the slope of your in-place floor will be.... fun.

I had thought about creating a "fake" floor that could host the railing and then hide it. I like the idea of putting it on another phase. Either way it is a workaround that is not clean and results in extra objects in the model that really are not needed.

Why can't railings be set to a workplane?

Railings have been neglected and unimproved for many, many releases.

Perhaps they will get a make-over in 2011 or 2012? LOL.......
