So I am trying to connect to an adf file. Is there a good site that tells you how to use this data and create a surface from it? Instead if just data connect?

Are you trying to create a C3D surface or a Map surface? If a C3D surface, just create the surface and then add the .adf file to the surface as a DEM file. I don't have C3D on this computer so I could be totally wrong.

Brian is correct, create a new surface and add the adf file as a DEM in the definition. Just beware if it is a large area you need a lot of horse power in the workstation, and if its a dem d/l from the internet it may not be up to date.
