Has anyone been able to tag the top of column elevation in plan? i have a column top that will be set above my TOS, and it looks like the spot elevation tool wont work for it.

Any ideas?

An elevation is a dimension in Revit, so I would give Spot Elevations a try.

Graphical column schedule is a great tool for this
pretty sure you can add dimensions to show heights above the associated level if the column isnt full height from level to level...

Make sure your cut plane is above the t/column and it works.

I use spot elevations on graphical column schedules.

The spot elevation tool won't work in plan if your cut plane is below the top of the column.

thanks for the help everyone, but for the record, spot elevations do not seem to work regardless of the elevation of the column to the cut plane.

Some of you might be getting the elevation of the workpoint of the beams framing into the column confused with the top of column elevation.

labelling the elevation in the column schedule might be the only way at this point.

hmmm...my delusions seem so real...
did we mention you have to be in fine view?
attached - t/column 0'-0" - cut plane 1'-0"

no beam in sight....

Our trick around the fine view was to always show show columns in fine detail and leave the view detail level at course. Best of both worlds.

FOUTJM, thanks for the help.

oh, and i know that you noticed that i added the caveat that it "did not seem" to work. :)

Cheers!
like the idea of putting columns themselves on fine...
