Filled regions show an area in their properties. Is there any way to tag this so I can show area on drawings? Would like to use for unprotected opening calcs.

No, there is not. Filled Regions are based on a system object, and you cannot add shared parameters to it. Also, there is no way to tag it that I am aware of.

Try using the Area Plan tools instead.

Just make "smaller" individual Areas for the opening protectives with the Area Boundary and you can then schedule them as the software is intended to work.

A more "BIM" approach is always better than using 2D / manual drafting techniques.

If the OP is trying to do this on a set of elevations, I was not aware the area tools would be accessible. Did I miss somehting?

If unprotected openings need to be calculated, you could make a custom window family
which is only the opening with no frames/glass/trim/extrusions, etc.
and then create an "opening schedule" from these custom windows.

This would be a better solution than filled regions, IMHO.

( I was thinking at first that the OP wanted a plan representation.)

I created a shared parameter for my window families which is Width - frame total - sash total.

I also added an instance parameter (text) called "Facing"

I figure I can schedule and sort my glazed areas by the direction they're facing.

Now what I need to be able to do is figure out a way to pull the area between grade, and the uppermost ceiling. for any building elevation.

The only thing I could think of was a transparent filled region.

Anyone else know how to do this.

Isn't there something about splitting and painting the face of walls? I think I read something about that for a paint take off.
