Hiding wall pattern on only certain walls in elevation?

Hi pros!

I'm looking to turn off the wall pattern in elevation on one wall and still show the wall patterns on the other walls shown in the same elevation. I can't seem to isolate one wall, but only turn on and off the wall pattern in the entire view and not just one wall. Is this doable?

Right click on the wall you want to change and select "Override graphics in view > By element..." from the menu. This will bring up a dialog box that will let you change visibility settings for just that wall. Expand the Surface Patterns category and uncheck the box for Visible to hide the pattern.

Select the wall. You can open a 2nd view (like a plan) where you can select the wall if you are having difficulty. Then click back to the elevation where you want to turn off the surface pattern. You can right click and select "Override Graphics in View>By Element". In the dialog that displays turn off the display of the surface pattern of this particular object.

You can also use a filter. For all the walls you want changed, add Filter to the Comments property. Then create a new Filter called Walls, applies only to walls, Comments Equals Filter. Then in the view apply that filter and over ride or turn of the Surface Pattern. If you add Filter to the comment of another wall, it will filter in all views set up this way, rather than needing to go to every view and Override By Element.

Note, you are going to HATE the fact that Revit defaults to Butt Joints rather than Miters I suspect. ;)
