We had an issue today on a project in my office that makes me think there are aspects to materials in Revit that affect appearence in a colored shaded view but are not accessible to the user.
We have two buildings linked together in this project and a colleague called me over because the carpet was a different color in each building, even though the material had exactly the same color set. The materials had been made independently. Even after we went through each individual material and made every parameter exactly the same - including the rendering values - one was still significantly lighter than the other. I finally used Transfer Project Standards to pull the material from the link so they could use exactly the same material, and that fixed the problem.
Here's the kicker - the only difference between the original two materials was that the user had made one of them by copying a carpet material and the other had been made copying a paint material. This makes me feel that there must be certain values beyond color and transparency that Revit uses to create the shaded view color, values that we have no access to and that can't be changed. Which means you have to be careful what material you duplicate when making a new one.
Anybody else have this experience?
