View Full Version : Question about Gabled Roof

I will try to explain this as best I can without a sketch. I am trying to create a decorative "fake" gable roof that is perpendicular to the main gable of the roof. The new gable needs to be flush with the exterior wall (there is no "pop out"). The problem I am encountering when drawing this is that if I draw a triangle shape (in plan) I can't use the slope toggles so I can't seem to get a roof slope...
Any ideas? Thanks.

Give yourself a pop-out of a couple of millimetres/an eighth of an inch and you will be able to work the slope toggle.

If I understand you correctly, the workaround that I use is to make 1/16" sloped lines (or some really small line) where you want the "fake" gable and then use a non-sloped line tying the two together.
You're too quick Pete!

Or if it's really simple, you could use slope arrows and create it in one roof footprint...

I probably took the long way around, but I created a roof in-place family and then voided out that piece that was sticking out on the underside. I was just wondering if there was some nifty trick out there. ;)
Thanks.
