I created a fire place as a general model family. How to I attach my stone material to it?

Is the item an in-place or a component generic model family?
Either way, you need to select the model geometry, open its properties and change the material assigned to the geometry.

It's in place. I looked all over it's properties and didn't find anything for materials selection. Hmmm, I'm sure I did something wrong! lol

Select the in-place family.
Next select edit-in place.
Select the geometry, then select edit.
Now that you are "in" the object, select properties
Here you can specify a material, or add a parameter for materials.

cheers.......

AH HA!! Got to be "IN" the object. Got it. Worked perfectly.
You need to quit giving me the correct answers, Cliff, otherwise you'll never get me to quit bugging you with questions.

Yes, yes it is. I'm a noob but I am LOVING revit! I just wish I knew all the tips and tricks for it. I have 15 years of ACAD tips and tricks I've accumulated, now I'm starting over and it sucks.

I, too have come all the way from hand-drawing, to Autocad, to Microstation, to ADT,
to ACA and now Revit ( saw the light as soon as Revit came out and jumped in early
while still having to play along with ADT. )

cheers......
