As a company we are looking into whether or not Revit can/will automatically generate control schematics from the model. Any suggestions, insite, etc.? Thanks.

Automatically? No.
You can create all the schematic symbols you need and draft it similar to how you would in AutoCAD.

Keep in mind that you can also schedule 2D Generic Annotation symbols which are used in a drafting view.
For example, most electrical projects have a one-line diagram. We use oval notes to designate feeder numbers. You can make a note block schedule that will list all the different feeder numbers in a schedule that are based upon the annotations in that one-line. Therefore if you delete a feeder in the one-line, it deletes in the feeder schedule as well. It isn't intelligent in relation to the model itself, but it is still a lot better than CAD.

Use a note block schedule.
Essentially, you can schedule all parameters of a single annotation symbol. For something like a feeder schedule, this can be very useful.

we have been toying with the idea as well from an electrical and aux system standpoint. One of the ideas is to utilize object styles in families that are also represented in schematic systems. the schematic object styles would then be turned on in a schematic view and diagrams made accordingly. But the linear style of schematic systems would make this a little more difficult to accomplish, or for veteran engineers to buy off on.
wait, revit is not a drafting tool. why bother... :-D
