I am trying to lay the level 1 floor plan under the level 2 floor plan but what I am getting is the level 1 reflected ceiling plan (not floor plan). Likewise when I underlay level 2 under level 1, I see the level 2 reflected ceiling plan. Anyone have any thoughts or seen this before?

Are you sure that you are seeing the RCPs? If you are not seeing everything that you expect on the underlay, then you may need to adjust your view range. If you are really seeing the RCPs then it would mean that Revit has messed up some internal pointers. Seems unlikely, but in that case you could try closing out and restarting to reestablish the proper pointers.

I am seeing ceiling hatch and lighting as well as changes in the underside of the slab so I am sure I am seeing the RCP view of the level I am trying to underlay.

Strange indeed. Sorry, but nothing else comes to mind at this point. Good luck and I hope someone else can help you figure it out.

are you setting underlay to "level 1" or "level below" There is something where if you underlay the current level it will underlay the ceiling plan. Don't know if that's it, but try both and see if it makes a difference...

My view properties dialog box underlay menu does not have an option of "current level" or "level below".
Generally, underlay pulls in the entire contents of the level, so you should see both ceiling and floor. Now, when you make level 2 underlay of level 1, objects display "from below", and it's the way it's supposed to be. When you make level 1 underlay of level 2, objects should display "from above".
Are using "Basic Ceiling" or "Compound Ceiling"? The grid on basic ceiling will be visible from both sides.

The ceilings are compound ceilings. Anybody have any other thoughts?

Turn off either the ceiling surface pattern or the entire ceiling component so you can just work with the plan elements underlaid.
