Hello everyone,

sorry if this has been discussed before, but I've searched the MEP forums without success.

I've created a duct tag that works OK: it will rotate with my ductwork when it is at an angle, only problem is that the annotation doesn't seems to be centered on angle ductwork? Anyone knows the reason for that? Is there a way to fix this? Please see the first attached image for more info.

Also, I've created a diffuser tag, I've checked the Rotate with component checkbox, but this one will not rotate at all with my diffuser... Even when I try to insert it manually after inserting my diff, or even if I try to rotate it manually, it will either stay vertical or horizontal... Please see the second attached image for more info.

What do you guys do if you have a project where you have part of a building that is at an angle? Do you leave the annotations horizontal or did you find a way to rotate these annotations?

Thanks for the help!

Regards issue #1: text handling in Revit is rather poor. You just cannot position the text object within the tag in such a way that it rotates perfectly at all angles. :(

Thanks for the answer Robert. I guess I can live with the first issue, not a big deal, just would have been nice...

Anyone as any comments regarding the second issue?

Thanks again.

Here it is: first one will rotate vertically and horizontally, second one, called T_M_Etiquette Diffuseurs - Rotate with component, has the Rotate with component checkbox checked. When I activate this checkbox, the tag will not rotate at all anymore?!?

Thanks for the help!

MY solution: create a generic annotation with arrow/symbols. Text in info. Its lame, nut works for the few rotated air terminals. After deep thought, figured revit might never be able to do this. If component isn't drawn at an angle, ie duct, that tells revit its at an angle, it doesnt know you aligned said air terminal to a certain angle. Do wish the tags could be rotated more than just vert. and horizontal though.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that couldn't get this to work. The problem with creating a generic annotation is you can't link your airflow and face size to the diffuser have it update automatically.

I have no Idea why? but the default revit text is Arial and when rotated goes off center from the text level. so if you change the font to Sans Serif it would solve the problem of rotating text with a parameter. Also take note of text size when changing fonts. 3/32 arial is about the same as 1/8 Sans. I had to use this trick when I needed to rotate and keep perfectly centered text in a family.
