For those of you creating 3D presentation videos, what software are you using? Do you like it? Is it easy to use?

Thanks,
Matt

I've just installed 'Windows Movie Maker' joint a few movies together and compressed them afterwards....seems alright.

Do you mean post-editing software, for compiling/editing clips?

If so, Adobe Premiere. Also, look at new features of 3dsMax 2011--it brings in new compositing tools from Toxic. Cool stuff. Should be out in a week or so....

To create the movies, we model in Revit, export to FBX and import into 3dsMax Design.
FBX Linking will be available in Max 2011.

cheers...

Matt,

Corel Video Studio Pro X2 - X3 is out now so guess I'll upgrade soon.
Cost effective, easy to use, has PIP (picture in picture), blue ray, you tube, dvi etc, can render out to a file (range of formats) or compose and burn onboard (range of formats) , can have 1 video track + 1 music track+ 1 audio track + 1 stills image / photos track and can do overlays easy enough (for instance to get a PIP, its just drag and drop.
Easy peasy trim and track editing, Audio track edits a breeze for levels, transitions.
Also has frame by frame video editing and the obligatory gazillion different types of transitions, custom composing of graphics.
Well cheaper than Adobe products and while it might have a few less features, there is little you don't have in this package and it works great.

One word of caution though for products with a much better toolset than something like Movie Maker. Most of the videography world for hobbyists, enthusiasts and small pro users is that RAM amount is a critical element. You should count on having the maximum useful RAM of 4Gb in a 32 bit system. The more the better. The wisdom seems to be that pre-rendering and rendering process chew up RAM and drag cpu (sound familiar ?) resources.

good luck
