Does anyone know what is different between the latest build # on the Autodesk download site compared to the download # when 5.1 was released.

And when is it really worth the effort to download a new build.

That's pretty new, Revit hasn't even broadcast it's existence to the ng yet. I think the R team "could" do a better job of communicating the changes between versions and builds, at least without installing first so you can see. Maybe as simple as posting the help.chm, What's new page.

I try to install every one as soon as they become available. Since we've paid for it, it's ours to use and even if there haven't been major new features that are important to me, they fix or improve something subtle. For example, plotting/printing processing time dropped substantially for me between 5 and 5.1. That didn't get mentioned in the What's new...(that I recall)

I doubt they would go through the effort to release a new build if there weren't some compelling reason to do so.

Hopefully someone from the team will chime in as the east coast rises today.

I know from Steve Burri that the ywere looking to iron out some glitches that were causing the render engine to hang, no doubt there are other fixes of that nature.

The Autodesk Revit Download Center now has the 20030502 build of 5.1 available. There were a couple of upgrade issues corrected, as well as a plotting issue (recently discussed in the 'Bugs in latest PDF Writer' thread in this newsgroup) where views in hidden line mode plotted using vector plotting could cause some elements to drop out.

This build is the same one that will be on the CD, so if you don't have the bandwidth or a pressing need to download the new build, you should be receiving a CD in the coming weeks.

That is the latest build. The previous build of 5.1 was 20030415_1500.
