View Full Version : [2010] Assigning user created worksets to views (OPEN)

I think it would be great to assign a user created workset to a view.
No more opening a view and then choosing the correct workset.
This would completely streamline workflow and eliminate the inevitable mistake of modeling on the wrong workset (admit you have done it).
Just open the view and the corresponding workset changes.
Revit is a data driven, link happy application and all the information is already there.
I like to show images. If we can see it, it makes that much more sense.

I agree with this request.

I agree, one less thing to keep track of would be useful. Couple questions/concerns though:
When would Revit switch to that workset? If you have multiple views open and are toggling between them, does it switch every toggle? If so, what if a view needs to show more then one workset? Every time I switch to that view, I have to double check the workset it set for me anyway.

I would assume a toggle would be just fine. I'm thinking it's not necessarily a physical/visible toggle. I was thinking more like... anything modeled in that view would just be assigned to a specific workset.
what if a view needs to show more then one workset? active workset, so a view can have multiple visible. We would still have the option to manually override.
I have never ran into the option of using more than 1 active possible workset per view.
Worksets are so broad, and everyone kinda does it there own way that Im sure there are multiple possibilities.
I just know that this is something that we can really benefit from.

This is a great idea, as long as you can turn off the auto toggling easily through a check box or something. Our plumbing guys tend to use a few worksets on each of their views and I know on my power plans I use an electrical equipment workset and a power workset.
