Hi all,

sortof of cryptic question, here's the lead in story.

we have created a wall using a massing, the wall is both curved and at an angle ( not perpendicular to any vertical plane) the wall also has a metal flashing detail going along the bottom 500mm of it . I want to Keynote this metal flashing in elevation.

not only do I want to keynote it, I want the leader to point at it. I mention this, as it's really tempting to keynote something else , not as important inthe back ground and have it show up as MF ( Metal Flashing ) but as soon as I go to add a leader, it'll point at this other object and not my MF.

I know one option would be to split the massing up, and model some of the wall as flashing, and some of it as the rest of the wall. I'm hesitant to do this because then any sections through that area will show the two walls stacked, and will lead to confusion.

currently on said elevation, I have the MF shown by a filled region.

anyone have any great ideas ? (good ideas accepted as well :P )

ps, just to add, I have detached the leader arrow and redirected, I'm just not happy with some element in the drawing being keynoted as MF, when it's not . .. has anyone made dummy annotations

You can certainly just make a generic annotation family to fake it.

Just add the MF as a sweep in your wall type that you have applied to the Mass.

Then it will be a "real" keynote.

cheers.........

I wish I didn't have to fake it. Mind you, wanting to keynote a filled region is sortof faking it.

that would defineatly solve the problem.

Revit doens't like adding sweeps or reveals to walls that aren't perpendicularly vertical .... right..? I could be wrong on that,

Try adding the sweep in Edit Structure of the wall type itself. ( i.e. not an in-place sweep.)

Then add wall by face on the Mass.

Any luck?

Or--model the sweep into the Mass itself, then make a MF Wall type and add that wall type by face on the Mass..........

just some quick thoughts......

Have you tried with a "User Keynote" ?

Regardless of what the subject title of the OP says,

I think the ideal solution here is:

Find a way to model the MF on a curved/sloped wall, and then have a "real"
keynote annotation with a leader that "touches" the MF and picks up its Keynote Identity Data.

see my suggestions above.

cheers
