Roof outline on plan

Im having trouble getting a dashed line indicating the eave above to show on my floor plan. Ichange the cut plane so it cuts through the eave then use the line tool to set it dashed but when I reset the cut plane the dashed line disappears.

what is strange about it is that some of the lines remain and some dont

IMHO, the simplest way to depict stuff above is to overlay plans on sheets. See this THREAD (http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?t=7570) for an example.
