Is it possible to create model text that follows the arc of a curved curtain wall? Any ideas on how to go about creating this?

I remember something about this before, and I think the only way is to create each letter individually. Not positive, though...

Thats right.

You will need to create a series of reference planes ( depending how tight your curve is ) and place the model text on each plane in one or two letter increments.

At AU, several improvements to Model Text were asked at the Stump the Chump:

1. Model Text on a curved wall
2. Model Text as a void (i.e. to do inset lettering on a concrete wall)
3. The ability to cut Model Text solids with normal voids.

Enough of the factory were there, and I think they were listening......:D

Hey there,

Beegee is correct! The only thing I might add is to place your reference plane(s) far enough into the wall so that each individual letter is slightly imbedded in the wall just far enough so that the edges of the letter don't stand off from the wall face. This really does look good by the way when done right!

Don't feel bad, even the chumps got frustrated with model text....I know

I made a model text family, wall hosted but its center is sinking inside the wall. I was hoping it will curve with the wall. Is there a way to even offset it from the wall? or I guess I will have to make another non hosted one...?

Nevine,

I merged your thread with this one, which should give you your answer.
