offsets

i have created a profile and i am trrying to offset by 1.2m and 1.5m below ground level. but when i do this the offsetts are being offset in every direction, humps are being exagerated above ground level etc, am i doing something wrong???????

Well, you can't offset a profile. Copy the profile and then move it vertically. If it's a surface profile, copy it, go into it's properties, and change it from dynamic to static.
