How do you get a door to penerate 2 walls that are running right next to each other in parallel to actually create one compound wall?
Someone here is insisting on this assembly.
Thanks.

Join Geometry. Select the walls and they will then cut as one.

Thanks Scott. Any other 'gotchas' about using this method of parallel walls?

I do it all the time with brick/stone veneer etc... no major issues.

As Paul said, nothing major as far as I can remember. Wall joins and clean-ups can be a bit toughter since it's two parallel walls.

interesting, i always just edit profile on the wall that the door is not actually in and snap aligns on door frame for 2nd wall in "sandwich"
seems to do about the same.

Edit profile is not the best practice, as it can be a challenge to coordinate
when the doors are moved--I suppose you can lock the sketch lines in edit profile
but join geometry is a more stable and reliable method.

Scott, is wall join available in API for 2011 or still in wishlist?

If the cavity is >6" then it may not work. At least that has been my experience. Mileage may vary.

Not sure...I'll have to check. Those that are into the API say that this is the most robust API release ever!
