Schedule values

Is there anyway to schedule or extract certain values from the drawing in order to be use on schedules or for calculations? i.e. I would like to schedule the height of my building I would normaly put a dimension but I would like to have that value reflected on a schedule or table, so everytime I change the height it will update my table.

Some of our hillside projects require a schedule of mean building heights and a site plan with benchmarks placed x distance from eachother around the perimeter of the building. We use a generic annotation family (attached) that we place in our site plans and we schedule the annotation family with a noteblock schedule. Hope that answers your question.
