View Full Version : Have roof modify wall material profile

This is kinda hard to explain. I have an exterior wall on the second level that extends down past a first floor roof. In section, facing this wall, I need to see the exterior finish above the roof but not below the roof line. However, I don't just want to hide it using masking regions or whatever because the finish schedule needs to be correct. The only way I see accurately portraying this is to have 2 walls on the same line and modifying their profiles to fit the slope but then we run into revision errors down the road if the wall moves or the pitch changes. See attached for a rough example (disregard levels). Also, if this is done as a stacked wall instead of two seperate walls can the line between the two walls be changed?

Did you try a split face? I'm not the biggest fan of split faces for some of the reasons you mention, but i'm not sure how else you'd do it. It will schedule correctly, however.

AFAIK, you can't get an angle (in elevation) between materials on a stacked wall. Also, the datum between the materials would be type based and could not change dynamically.

If your stone facing is a finish layer, and the rest of the wall is a core layer, you can extend the footprint of the roof to core, then attach the wall to the roof.

The finish layer should attach to the roof plane, but the core layer will continue past (lol....hopefully)! I think that will give you what you want?

Edit: Sorry, this doesn't appear to work, though I'm sure I've done it before?
