Try the following stretch sequence:
S;
C;
'z;
w; zoom in close on something
What result do you get on the screen?

>>Specify first corner: >>Specify opposite corner:
Resuming STRETCH command.
It behaves as it should, you're having a problem with it?

You will as long as SELECTIONPREVIEW is set to 1 or 2. Otherwise set it to 0

I don't see a problem. The highlight goes away when you start to select objects by crossing.

I tried changing the selectionpreview and it makes no difference. It is not a problem just didn't do it in 2008. Just wondering why.

I think it's related to the crossing option in the first post. Typing "w" will get the blue box with solid border, but it's still a zoom only.

I'd suggest that it is a mild bug in that the 'z should temporarily switch off the selection preview highlighting. It makes no difference whether you type the w or rely on implied windowing (just pick two points).
I've never noticed this because I would always zoom to a suitable level before calling the Stretch command. ~shrug~ :)

Me neither; I am typically a grip stretcher.
