Any advices?

Hi Tarch,

Try uninstalling the beta from you add/remove before you go and do the installation. Once you have uninstalled then go to get hold of Windows Installer clean up and CCleaner and do a clean up on the machine. Then try and do the installation of the of the new Revit.

Hi Tach,

CCleaner is available from: http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download

Windows Installer Clean up for Windows 7 is available from: http://download.microsoft.com/download/e/9/d/e9d80355-7ab4-45b8-80e8-983a48d5e1bd/msicuu2.exe

Have a bit of a search if your running Vista or XP

Had the following issue when to trying to install on someone else's computer:

When unpacking the Autodesk_Revit_Architecture_2011_English_Win_32-64bit file we got the following error:

Some files could not be created.
Please close all applications, reboot and restart this intallation.

During the extraction process we noticed the following:

Cannot create en-US\support\adr\SetupDesignReview2011.msi

Has anyone else seen this?

Thanks, Travis

Thanks Ian, this worked to pass original hurdle. But now I have another one " Error 1402 Could note open key: Unknown component 6830...................verify you have sufficient access to that key".

I am the only user and have all admin rights.

Hi Alek,

It kind of sounds like a registry problem. I did a quick google search on Error 1402 and found: http://www.error-fix-tool.com/error.php?t=1402 I have no knowledge as to whether this is a legitimate site or one of the many scam sites which target registry repair issues.

If you have a good registry repair tool, I would give it a whirl and see if there is something stuck in there from the Beta Version.

I had no problems at all with a simple uninstall of 2011 Beta and then the install of the release version.

Although I think it is a registry issue, it would also be worth a support request to see if Adesk have any info.

Cheers,

Ian

Tarch, from the research I did on your error it would seem that it would be windows registry problem. Something to do with securties. Try going to here to resolve those issues. http://support.microsoft.com/fixit.

Tidalwave, have you tried running the insall as administrator? Could be a simple matter of it not allowing it unpack correctly. Remove the previous unpack before you try this though. Go to C:\\Autodesk\. Delete the revit folder that has been created there.

Thanks, Elmo. We were logged in as an administrator. I installed it on a different computer today and had no issues. I got the person to run disk cleanup and am waiting on them to run disk defrag before we try again. Then if it doesn't work, I'll recopy the install file from where I saved it on the network.

Hi Elmo,

Last two days I followed every reasonable suggestion I found on the Net on 1402 but nothing worked. The only hope now is Adesk's support.

Or a complete windows format and clean install. I hate resorting that kind of measure but I might be that you would need to do something that drastic.

I had the same issue on my computer, we were able to get around it by replacing the permissions for the specific key but it became an ongoing issue everytime I tried to install any Autodesk software, the ultimate solution was to reload windows....I have another user that installed the beta that's having the same issue; I'm going to work on it today and see if there is anyway to avoid the reload, I'll update you later!

Thanks David,

did reloading windows required reloading all software?

Tarch, if your going to reload windows I would recommend doing a format and clean install. So backup your work data and then make sure you have the stuff saved somewhere safe. Then do a format and windows install. You will need to re-install all software again but it is possible.

Hi Elmo, that's what I was afraid to hear.

I've tried to install multiple times now and have failed each time. I've done two clean installs; tried to repair the installation; & downloaded it twice. Every time it seems to install fine. When I launch the program, after the splash screen, it gives me a windows error and cannot continue. I get a white window with no icons before that. I don't understand. It installed fine on an identical machine and Autodesk Design review works from that install.

I've updated Windows Vista Business, updated Quadro NVS295 driver, and asked for help from my reseller. They say they are waiting on a response from Autodesk.
