Joining Footings in separate Design Options-RS2010

I'm having trouble joining two wall footings that are in different design options. When I placed them on the same design option they both connect correctly, but once I move one of them to the desired design option the joining dissapears. It is also happenning with an isolated footing. Thanks in advance for your help

Items in different options do not join together. If a join occured there would be missing or extra geometry in one option or the other.
