issue with dimension text editing (text is tiny)

when using the "ddedit" command on a dimension to input text sometimes causes an issue where, within the Text Formatting dialouge, the text i am editing is extremely tiny... i have no idea how to resolve this.
i know i can also type in text in Properties but i dont get all the formatting options there
